BHS Sends a Rep to Nation's Capital

Alicia Emminger stands with Congressman Christopher Lee
|
It wasn't an election, but it was a competitive selection when BHS senior Alicia Emminger's artwork was judged by a panel of art experts and took first place in the Congressional Art Competition for our congressional district. Alicia's work, Arbitrary Color Still Life, will be on display in a walkway between the House office buildings and the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition, which is open to high school students in each member's congressional district.
