BHS Principal Christopher Dailey with Valedictorian Sahil Jain and Salutatorian Kristen Klein
The Class of 2010 has much of which to be proud! As confirmation of their efforts and successes, more than 200 recognition and monetary awards were distributed to these individuals by colleges and universities, school and community organizations, employers, and the military. All together, students were offered close to $3 million, and once decisions of which schools to attend were made, they were able to utilize nearly $850,000 to fund those pursuits. While most students plan to continue their education, others will go immediately to employment or into the US armed forces.

Special congratulations go to the Class of 2010 Valedictorian Sahil Jain and Salutatorian Kristen Klein.

Sahil, the son of Dr. Lalit and Abha Jain, will attend Cornell University in the fall to major in Industrial Labor Relations as preparation for a career in business or law. Through his high school years, Sahil has been a member of Model United Nations, Mock Trial, Math Team, and National Honor Society. He played for the varsity tennis team, earning the designation of scholar athlete. He was the 2009-10 Student Ex-Officio Board Member, and was one of 100 selected to the Business First 2010 All-Western New York Academic Team. Other awards include the Batavia Rotary Club Presidential Scholarship, the E.G. Richmond Award, Batavia Teachers’ Association Academic Excellence Award and the John M. Secord Jr. Memorial Medal in Mathematics.

Kristen, the daughter of Mary Klein and of David Klein and Janine Schue, will attend the University of California, Berkeley, to major in Society and Environment. Co-captain of her Mock Trial team and in National Honor Society, Kristen also played varsity soccer and was captain of the varsity basketball team. Kristen was involved with many community service programs, primarily those working with young athletes. She received the American History Award, the University of California/Berkeley Academic Scholarship, the Zonta Award for Women in Public Affairs, Perfect Score on English Regents Award, Batavia Teachers’ Association Academic Excellence Award, and the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship.
