A note from our director:
I am Juanita Henry the Genesee Region Teacher Center Director. I am honored and excited to have this opportunity to work with all districts in our region. My goal is to support each district in their initiatives.
My journey in education started in the Batavia City School District where I was a middle school science teacher for 34 years. During that time I pursued many opportunities to participate in staff development and became a trainer for Cooperative Learning and Marzano Vocabulary. My positions as Science Department Chair, Mentor Coordinator, and New Teacher Induction Facilitator afforded me the opportunity to offer presentations on such topics as curriculum mapping, Understanding by Design, formative and summative assessment, Differentiation, Data Driven Dialogue, Charlotte Danielson’s Frameworks for Learning and the new Teaching Standards. During the last 11 years I have completed my training to become a Cognitive Coachingsm Training Associate and have facilitated many cycles of Cognitive CoachingsmTraining. I am also an Agency Trainer status for Adaptive Schools and am a Habits of Mind Trainer.
These experiences have led me to be a proficient coach, facilitator, consultant and professional development trainer. It is my intention to work with the districts in the Genesee Region Teacher Center consortium to determine how I might utilize my skills to provide professional development for district and state initiatives such as the Common Core, the new APPR and data analysis. I look forward to working with you.
