Dear Batavia City School District Parents and Guardians,
My name is Scott Bischoping, and the Batavia Board of Education has appointed me to serve as the Interim Superintendent while they work to find a permanent replacement for the role. I previously served as the Interim in 2019 and am looking forward to the work here in the district over the next few months. I recently served as the Interim Superintendent in the Byron-Bergen Central School District, so I have maintained a relationship with Genesee Valley BOCES, Genesee County, and the local school districts.
The 2021-22 school year is quickly approaching, and we expect to have our students and teachers in school, in-person, full time – similar to how we finished the 2020-21 school year. We plan to have more detailed information soon – specifically related to when students and staff are expected to wear masks.
While we plan to start the school year in person, we understand that there may be circumstances related to health issues that may warrant a desire for remote learning for certain students and families.
To accommodate those students in grades 6-12, we have partnered with Genesee Valley BOCES to offer a remote learning option. Students who enroll in this program will be taught by Genesee Valley BOCES teachers, and classes will be made up of students from school districts throughout the area.
To accommodate those students at the K-5 level, we will communicate the instructional format as soon as we determine the number of students interested.
Please Note: This will be the only opportunity you have this school year to enroll your child in a fully remote class, and by doing so, you will commit to remote learning for the entire 2021-22 school year.
If you are interested in having your child attend a remote learning program, please complete this form by Thursday, August 26, 2021. This will enable us to confirm a spot for your child in a remote program.
