Dear BCSD Families,
You may have seen the news that a State Supreme Court Judge from Nassau County ruled today that the New York State Department of Health’s statewide mask mandate is unconstitutional.
The State Education Department, which oversees all school districts across the state, is confident this ruling will be appealed within the next 24 hours.
School districts have been directed by the State Education Department to continue to enforce the mask mandate within our schools. I have included the specific directive from the State Education Department below.
I understand this is a contentious issue. Our entire BCSD team, as well as our legal representatives, are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to provide updates as they become available.
