4 Ways BHS Students Can Get Involved

One of the best ways for students to feel connected at Batavia High School is to get involved.

When I interview seniors on what advice they would give incoming students, it is almost always "Get involved.  Your high school days will go by faster than you think."

We encourage students to explore one of our many clubs, music programs, art, drama, or sports.

There are too many clubs and sports for me to highlight in one post, but here are some clubs you might not be aware of:

  • We have a partnership with Daemen College for students to compete in eSports. This is an online gaming platform where students work with their coach and enter competitions.

  • I recently watched our Scholastic Bowl team perform well in competition against other schools. Scholastic Bowl tests a wide variety of academic knowledge and trivia, and it is a lot of fun to see how we size up against other teams.

  • We have service organizations like our Zonta "Z" Club that have a lot of fun serving our community in a fun environment.

  • It is never too early for our sophomores and juniors to start thinking about joining our Link Crew, where our upperclassmen help our incoming freshmen get involved and connected at BHS.

Our counselors, administrators, and teachers would be happy to talk with parents or students about an activity that they might get connected to. If there is enough student interest in a club we are not offering, we can explore whether we can create that option next year.

We look forward to seeing many of our students explore a new activity.  It is a great way to enrich the school experience and meet new friends.
