Check Out What’s Happening This Month at BMS

  • This month, we are celebrating Black History Month, and Mrs. Holmes’ Social Studies class is creating daily slides of influential black people throughout history. In March, we will be doing the same thing as we celebrate Women's History and Music in Our Schools.

  • Our Social Emotional Learning Committee has developed a competition between grade levels through Class Dojo, where the winning class for February gets a Movie Night/Afternoon in the Auditorium. This idea was generated through a student survey.

  • BMS is participating in a national campaign that encourages students to make new friends and connect with others from different backgrounds called “Mix It Up Lunch Day.” This month, the focus is on teaching tolerance, diversity, and inclusion. On Valentine's Day, we are asking 5th grade students to move out of their comfort zone and sit with one new friend and play a game. Valentine's Day treats will be given out to any 5th grader that participates.

  • We are working with our parent group to develop ideas for spring activities that students can participate in as the outdoor weather improves.

  • Last weekend, we had many students participate in the GWMEA Solo Festival in Strings, Vocal, and Band. Great job by all students in Ms. Case, Mr. McLean, and Mr. Williams’ classes.  We are proud of your hard work and courage.
