When Should I Contact the School Counselor?
Parents may contact the school counselor if:
Your child doesn't want to go to school
Your child keeps telling you that he/she doesn't have any friends
Your family circumstances have changed (divorce, separation, domestic violence, substance abuse, etc.)
Your child seems frustrated by school and helping doesn't make it better
There has been a death or loss in the family and you want information to help you talk to your child about it.
Students may contact the school counselor if:
He/she is having trouble with a friend
He/she is getting picked on and doesn't know how to handle it
He/she wants someone to talk to
He/she is having trouble with schoolwork and doesn't know where to go to get help
He/she wants to learn about leadership, cultural diversity, community service, or careers
