BOE Candidates:

Nominations to be considered as a BOE candidate must be received by the District Clerk, Scott Rozanski (260 State Street, Batavia NY 14020 or via srozanski@bataviacsd.org) by 5:00 PM on May 11, 2020. Petitions are not required.

QUALIFICATIONS OF SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES 

  • Age 18 years or older.

  • Citizen of the United States.

  • Able to read and write.

  • Residency in the Batavia City School District for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the date of his or her election.

A school board candidate does not have to be a property owner in the district.  No more than one member of the same family may be a member of the same Board of Education in any school district.  No employee of the school district may serve on the Board of Education in that district.

Per Governor Andrew Cuomo’s executive order, the Annual School Budget Vote and Election will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.  The vote will be held by absentee ballot only.  All voters registered with Genesee County Board of Elections will automatically receive a ballot.  Those included on the permanent and military lists (through the Genesee County Board of Elections) will also receive ballots.  If you are not a registered voter and would like to request a ballot, please email the district clerk at:  srozanski@bataviacsd.org or call 585-343-2480 x 1002.  You will need to include your name, full address and phone number (in case there is a question).  The absentee ballots must be returned by mail no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9,, 2020 to the Office of the District Clerk at Batavia High School Administrative Offices, 260 State Street, Batavia New York 14020. In order to be counted, school budget ballots can be accepted by hand delivery through 5 p.m. on June 9 and received by mail through June 16 by the school district, where counting will begin on mailed ballots after 5 pm.
