Professional Development

All professional development in the district is linked to improving student achievement. The PDP Team (Professional Development Planning Team) uses data from state and local assessments to develop focus areas and activities designed to improve staff members’ skills.  Each building is represented on the PDP Team. The team meets multiple times throughout the year to plan and evaluate professional development activities.

100 hour requirement
Teachers new to the profession i.e. have obtained Professional Certificates that must be renewed every five years, must document 100 hours of professional development every five years.  The district must certify that this requirement has been fulfilled. Therefore it is especially important for staff with Professional Certificates to track professional development hours in Frontline.

Attending a workshop or conference outside the district
A teacher who wishes to attend a conference/workshop outside the district should request approval using Frontline.  Once the building principal has approved attendance, a copy of the conference brochure should be sent to Molly Corey, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction with a note indicating the staff member’s name, reason for request and indication that the staff member has entered the request (including required funds and need for a substitute) into Frontline.   Technical problems regarding Frontline Professional Growth should be addressed to nmitchell@bataviacsd.org, or for Absence Management jsmart@bataviacsd.org
