More than 1,600 people across four schools participated in the first phase where information was gathered in various, creative ways.
One focused on building upon what is working well in our schools and the district. Participants used a story telling process to tell about a time when the Batavia City School District and our schools exemplified Batavia's current Mission and Vision. This process allowed us to collectively determine common strengths of the district.
Participants were also invited to complete a survey from Dr. Marzano's High Reliability Schools framework. Three key areas were included in the survey.
Section 1: Safe, Supportive and Collaborative Culture
Section 2: Effective Teaching in Every Classroom
Section 3: Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
After the survey information was collected, stakeholder groups came together in the form of focus groups to look at the data collect.
