    Physical therapy involves the development of gross motor skills.  Your child may be working on gross motor skills that include: muscle strength, trunk postural control, balance, coordination, and locomotion skills. 

          Activities in these areas may include:

                     Strength-  crab walking, sit-ups, push-ups, scooter board activities

                      Postural Control or Trunk Stability- dead cockroach, superman, standing on one foot

                     Balance- walking on a line, walking on a balance beam, stair negotiation, balancing on a rocker board

                     Coordination- ball skills, jumping jacks, cross crawls, moving arms and legs in a pattern while sitting on a therapy ball, jumping rope

                     Locomotion- walking, running, jumping, galloping, hopping, and skipping
