The Board of Education, at their April 4 meeting, adopted a budget proposal to be brought to the residents for vote in May. The tax levy increase associated with the proposal, for the third year in a row, is 0.0%. (This year's NYS allowable tax cap for a simple majority vote is 4%.) The proposed budget presents a spending plan of $49,870,585, an increase of 12.4% over 2016-2017. Most of the increase, however, is attributable to the District making a recommended accounting change in compliance with the NYS comptroller’s audit.
The public hearing for the proposed budget is May 9, 2017, at 7 pm in the BHS library. Voting will take place on May 16, from 7 am to 9 pm.
