Thanks from Operation Gratitude

Batavia High School teacher Lorrie Gammack organized a letter-writing campaign before Veteran’s Day last year as part of the ongoing Operation Gratitude. These letters were included in care packages delivered to deployed troops, wounded heroes and their caregivers, veterans, military families, and first responders. Over 1200 students from all buildings and including grades K-12, wrote letters and drew pictures encouraging and thanking these people for their service. Recently, Mrs. Gammack received a thank you letter from Lt. Col. USMC (Ret.) Kevin Schmiegel, the CEO of Operation Gratitude. The Batavia City School District was proud to be a part of this worthy endeavor; anyone wishing to share their thanks may also submit letters to Lt. Col. (Ret) Kevin Schmiegel, Operation Gratitude, PO Box 260257, Encino, CA 91426-0257. For additional information, see or email
