Update 8/7/20 on Reopening Plans

Dear Batavia Blue Devils Community,

Today, Governor Cuomo announced that schools in New York State may reopen this Fall under certain
conditions.

In particular, the Governor outlined directives for districts, including more specific requirements related to:

1. Plans and process for COVID-19 testing and Contact Tracing for sick or suspected sick individuals
(including students, faculty, and staff);
2. Setting up multiple dates for discussion sessions with parents, students and staff; and
3. Remote Virtual Learning Plans
The District has already begun the process of carefully reviewing these requirements. As part of that review, we
are determining how these requirements will influence our current Reopen Batavia Strong Plan.

Once we have a complete understanding of these additional requirements and how they would need to be
implemented, we plan to update our school community.

The District is just as eager as you are to finalize plans for the upcoming school year, and we continue to make every effort to address all issues promptly.

Please know that, during this review process, the health and safety of our school community continues to be our top priority. Together, we can continue to keep the infection rate low for our region. Please continue to do your part and wear a mask when you can’t be socially distant from others and practice good hygiene.

Lastly, I want to thank you all for your continued patience and understanding during this unpredictable time. Please know that we are excited to have our students and staff return this Fall but will only do so in a manner that is safe and secure for all.

We will Reopen Batavia Strong!!!

Thank you,

Anibal Soler, Jr.

Superintendent of Schools
