BHS Senior Hannah Tiede Honored at First Annual BOCES Signing Day!

Congratulations to BHS senior Hannah Tiede, daughter of Meghan and Rich Tiede, who was honored this morning at the first annual BOCES Signing Day! Hannah, a long-time lover of motorcycles and a soon-to-be graduate of the Auto Mechanics program at the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership (GVEP) Batavia Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center, has signed on at Stan’s Harley-Davidson in Batavia to work full-time.

Hannah’s instructor, Bob Yates, spoke briefly about how Hannah had impressed him from her first day in the Auto Mechanics program. Noticing that she began taking notes as soon as he started to address the class, he recognized immediately that she was a student who would be devoted to doing her best. Hannah’s enthusiasm as an employee also made a very favorable impression on Darryl Horzempa of Stan’s Harley-Davidson, himself a BOCES graduate.

Jon Sanfratello, Executive Principal of the Batavia CTE, and Julie Donlon-Yates, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and School Improvement, commended the three CTE students – Hannah, as well as two others from nearby districts– and welcomed parents, school district administrators (including our own BHS principal, Paul Kesler, and our superintendent, Christopher Dailey), and representatives from the Business/Education Alliance and the Genesee County Economic Development Center to the ceremony and reception. Mr. Sanfratello stressed that this region has opportunities for skilled workers and that the Partnership’s CTE Centers have dedicated students who are taking advantage of education and training available to them to prepare for those skilled professions. They also thanked the parents as well as the school and community members for having confidence in, being supportive of, and fostering partnerships with the CTE programs and students.

Hannah signs her certificate of employment in her chosen field, while Darryl Horzempa of Stan's Harley-Davidson and her parents, Meghan and Rich Tiede, look on.
