2020 Census Can Benefit Schools and Community

Filling out the 2020 Census now benefits our community for the future – so it’s important for you and every person in your household to be counted.

According to the US Census Bureau, the data that is collected for the 2020 Census will determine congressional representation, inform decisions about hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding, and provide data that will impact communities for the next decade. For example, census results affect communities for things like school lunches, plans for highways, and support for firefighters and families in need. Despite it’s importance, only about half of the population has completed the questionnaire.

It’s easy to boost the response rate. All you need to do is respond! Everyone should have received multiple mailings, including a paper questionnaire as well as reminders. The confidential questionnaire can be completed online, by phone, or by mail. (If you lost or never received a letter or paper questionnaire, you can still respond online to the 2020 Census. Go to my2020census.gov. Select the link that says, "If you do not have a Census ID, click here." It is located below the Census ID login field.)

Much more information (including samples of the questions, directions for answering correctly, details about impact on communities, and information about privacy and security) is available on the 2020 Census website: https://my2020census.gov/ or here https://2020census.gov/en.html

The US Census Bureau is urging us to respond so that our community can be properly represented.
