Important Buildings & Grounds Update - Water Testing

As part of new, more stringent New York State water quality requirements, BCSD recently completed testing on 587 water outlets throughout the district. These updated regulations are designed to ensure the safety and quality of all drinking water sources used by students and staff.
Based on the results:
- 436 water outlets tested under the new water quality limits, meaning the water is safe to drink.
- 151 outlets tested over the new limits, meaning the water should not be used for drinking.
Of those 151 outlets:
- 133 were non-drinking sources, mostly bathroom sinks. These sinks are not typically used for drinking, but we are required to post signs reminding students and staff not to drink from them.
- 18 were essential drinking water sources. These will have filtration systems installed and will be retested to ensure they meet state standards.
All affected areas are clearly marked, and we are actively informing the school community to help ensure everyone’s safety.
We remain in ongoing communication with the local Health Department to ensure compliance with state guidelines and best practices. All required water testing has now been completed by the District.
Looking ahead, we plan to address plumbing upgrades as part of future capital projects to ensure long-term compliance with water quality standards.
Thank you for your continued support as we take these important steps to protect the health and well-being of our students and staff.
