BOE

The Batavia City School District is looking for two new Board of Education Members to serve a 1-year term.

A school board member takes on one of the most important citizen responsibilities; overseeing the education of the community’s youth.  The Board works with the Superintendent to create a District vision, set goals and establish framework of desired outcomes.  They review and modify policies, adopt a school budget, and work together in collaboration to make important decisions for the entire District.

Qualifications:

  • Age 18 years or older.
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Able to read and write.
  • Residency in the Batavia City School District for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the date of his or her election.

A school board candidate does not have to be a property owner in the district.  No more than one member of the same family may be a member of the same Board of Education in any school district.  No employee of the school district may serve on the Board of Education in that district.

The Board of Education generally meets two times per month on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.  They also meet in March for Budget meetings.  A full schedule is available for review upon request.

If you are interested in serving please send a letter of interest and resume by July 5, 2021:
